Tamoxifen (Generic Nolvadex) :
Tamoxifen is an antiestrogen that is used for treating breast cancer that has spread to other sites in the body. It may also be used with different medicines to treat other types of breast cancer. Tamoxifen blocks the effect of estrogen on certain tumors and this way prevents the growth of tumors that are activated by estrogen. To decrease the risk of developing breast cancer Tamoxifen is administered for women who are at high risk for breast cancer and in women with DCIS (after surgery and radiation). Tamoxifen may be also administered to treat other conditions as determined by your physician.
You should not use Tamoxifen in case you have conditions mentioned below: you are allergic to any ingredient in Tamoxifen; you are using Tamoxifen to reduce your risk of breast cancer and you have a history of blood clots in the lung or leg; you are using Tamoxifen to reduce your risk of breast cancer and you also take certain anticoagulants (eg, warfarin); you are taking anastrozole
In such cases it is obligatory to consult with your doctor or health care provider before taking this medicine.
Before using Tamoxifen you should tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions listed below: you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding a baby; you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances; you have a history of blood clots in the legs or lungs; you have high levels of calcium in your blood, a weakened immune system, or low levels of white blood cells or platelets in your blood; you have high cholesterol or lipid levels; you have cataracts or other vision problems; you are taking cytotoxic cancer medicines; you are confined to a bed or chair.
Be aware that Tamoxifen may interact with some medicines. Consult with your health care provider in case you are taking any other drugs, especially any of the next: Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the risk of bleeding may be increased; Cytotoxic cancer medicines (eg, cisplatin) because of the increased of developing blood clots; Rifampin because the effectiveness of Tamoxifen may be decreased; Fluorouracil or mitomycin C because of increased risk of Tamoxifen 's side effects; Aromatase inhibitors (eg, anastrozole, letrozole) because their effectiveness may be decreased by Tamoxifen;
It may not be a complete list of all interactions with other drugs. To prevent any complications you should check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
How to use Tamoxifen :
You should use Tamoxifen as recommended by your doctor with or without food. Swallow this medication without breaking, crushing, or chewing. It is recommended to take Tamoxifen with water or another nonalcoholic liquid.
Don�t give taking Tamoxifen even if you feel well.
Try not to miss any doses. Take Tamoxifen according to regular scheduler.
In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next intake, skip the missed dose and take it according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take double doses at once.

Important safety information:
Tamoxifen may lead to drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worsening by taking alcohol or certain medicines. Prevent driving or performing any other possibly unsafe actions.
Consult with your doctor before taking of alcohol.
The quantity of clot-forming cells (platelets) in blood may be decreased while taking Tamoxifen. Try to prevent situations in which bruising or injury may occur. Tell your doctor if you have unusual bleeding, bruising, blood in stools, or dark, tarry stools.
You should know that Tamoxifen may decrease your body's ability to fight infection. Try to avoid contacts with people with colds or other infections. Tell your doctor if you have any signs of infection (fever, sore throat, rash, or chills).
